Opened in 1911, the downtown Hudson's store at 1206 Woodward expanded over the years to a total of 2,124,316 square feet.
Hudson's had 51 passenger elevators and 17 freight elevators.
The store closed it's doors in 1983.
The first explosions occurred in Hudson's 4 story basement, and were heard but not seen.

Immediately following, blasts could be seen on the southwest corner of the building, seen on the left side of this image.
A total of 6,456 charges containing 2,728 pounds of plastic explosives are being set of during the entire implosion.
The tower's 25 floors and flagpole have only seconds left, as the southwest wing begins to collapse.
The southwest wing of the building crumbles to the ground. Dust from explosions can be seen coming out of the left side of the tower.
As the southwest wing is leveled, the blasts intensify, with more dust seen coming from the left side of the tower, as well as the bottom right of the main building.
More blasts cause the entire building to appear to shudder, with a line of dust coming out across the entire lower rear of the building, as well as from it's mid section.
After only 14 seconds from the initial blasts, the entire left side of the building is falling, with the tower and right side close behind.
The carefully orchestrated blasts seem to have succeeded, as the building falls into itself.
The last glimpse of Hudson's as it falls into the ever increasing dust cloud.
The sunlight beams across the huge dust cloud.
The dust cloud glides swiftly across the streets, as some cheer and others scream.
Hudson's 660 million pounds of rubble lies hidden as the dust cloud advances.
